Join the energy challenge
Shell TapUp, March 2019 - The US Energy Information Administration predicts a 28% increase in global energy demand by 2040 (1). That is a big increase. You can read here what this means for your fleet.
WHAT IS THE ENERGY CHALLENGE?
By 2025, nearly half a billion citizens in emerging markets of poverty will have risen to the middle class (2). And rising prosperity goes hand in hand with rising consumption. That means a greater demand for consumer goods, more technological possibilities in homes and companies that use electricity and more vehicles on the road. The World Economic Forum cites research showing that the number of cars on the road worldwide will double to two billion by 2040 (3). But while demand is increasing, companies are under increasing pressure to diversify their energy sources and switch to cleaner fuels. Both the UK and France have passed laws prohibiting the sale of gasoline and diesel cars by 2040. According to the Paris UN climate agreement, global warming must be limited to well below 2 degrees Celsius by controlling climate and environmental pressures, but without impeding economic development.
The number of cars on the road will double to 2 billion by 2040.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOUR FLEET?
Now that the market is moving away from traditional fuels, no one can afford to stand still. If you start too late with the switch to new fuels and vehicle types, you will later be faced with an unnecessarily fast transition of the entire fleet, with all the additional costs and disruption.
In addition, a large-scale transition to a single type of alternative fuel is probably not a good option for most company fleets. Various new and innovative fuel types, suitable for different types of vehicles and usage scenarios, already exist or are under development.
TAKE ON THE ENERGY CHALLENGE WITH US
If we, as a society, want to make our energy-wasting economies increasingly low-carbon, we have to use fuels more efficiently and switch to a mix of cleaner fuels. By using multiple types of fuels, fleet managers will be able to meet the needs of all users, from deliverers who travel short distances in the city to carriers of heavy loads over long distances.
Take on the energy challenge with us! We are the first company in the Netherlands to refuel cars at your location whenever you want. With that we get a lot of kilometers off the road. We do this by driving CO₂-neutral and fueling sustainable fuels. In addition to gasoline and diesel, we also refuel Shell GTL Fuel and HVO. It is made from natural gas and burns cleaner than normal diesel from petroleum. In addition, we are working hard to deliver other more sustainable fuels, such as biofuel. We are happy to think along with you about your sustainability mission in the long term!
